So, can we talk, about travel? What’s hot, what’s not.? Where have you been and where do want to go? And, what do you like to do when you get there? Let’s chat about the crazy characters we’ve met and the cultures we’ve connected and/or clashed with.

First Topic: The 2008 Beijing Olympics

As a Travel Babe, I’ve been to Beijing. But, even if you’ve never been to Beijing, these 2008 Olympic Games games are still pretty cool.

What I am wondering is– are men watching as much of the Olympics on TV as we women? If so, what are they watching? Do men prefer to watch mens’ sports or womens’ sports? Would you men rather see Womens’ gymnastics or the mens’ 500 yard dash? Is that even an Olympic event?

What are you ladies watching? Basketball or Beach Volleyball? Gymnastics or Dodge Ball? Wait a minute–I think Dodge Ball was a movie…

I must say that seeing those perfect bodies, muscles rippling and six packs glistening, doing all kinds of amazing things, makes me want to go out and run a marathon. Not. I hate exercise. I can’t remember a time when I was that sleek. In fact, I probably never was that sleek.

Those underwater shots of Michael Phelps gliding along like some kind of sea creature are unforgettable. The divers doing all those twists and turns in mid air are unfathomable. HOW do they do it? And, how old are those tiny female Chinese gymnasts, anyway?

So, c’mon ladies and guys– which events have your eyeballs glued to the screen? Men, don’t you just love those volleyball babes–Misty May and Company? Their short shorts are really short. My mother would not approve. I wonder why we don’t see the Mens’ Beach Volleyball Games in Prime Time? How short are their shorts? Those NBC Executives are no fools.

I’m watching the mens’ synchronized diving as I write. A few minutes ago there was some kind of event with guys in bonnets playing soccer in the pool. Bonnets aren’t very flattering on grown men, are they? They’re getting rid of baseball for this???

At least we have the “Redeem Team.” I hear that Kobe climbed the Great Wall the other day. Good for him. I hope he and the guys beat whoever they’re playing this time. And, where is the Jamaican Bobsled Team this year?

P.S. Ladies, do you think Bob Costas dyes his hair?
